Do you have memories from your childhood of those long summer days when you just felt bored out of your mind? I do.
Unfortunately, as an adult, I have realized you can still be that bored, especially on days when you are at home and don’t have any plans scheduled. Beating boredom can be a problem that follows you into adulthood.
And if you live with chronic or mental illness, you might find yourself at home more often than not.
Some people try to beat boredom by watching TV or binge-watching series on Netflix. And that can be okay at first, but as human

How to Find a Hobby or Passion
To find a hobby or passion that fits your personality and your individual needs just takes a quick self-awareness exercise.
It doesn’t have to be a complicated process where you feel pressure to “get it right.” There is no rule that says that once you pick a hobby you have to stick with it.
And there is definitely no rule that says you just have to pick ONE hobby. (Although I do suggest you try one hobby at a time when you are picking a new one.)
Consider things you are passionate about.
Are there certain causes or volunteer opportunities you would like participate in? Maybe your passion is to help the elderly. Quilting, crocheting, or knitting lap blankets would be a great hobby that would serve your passion. Or you might be want to help homeless people and “upcycling” items as a hobby would be a great choice for you.
Go ahead and step back for a minute (choose a time without a lot of distractions) and ask yourself these questions:
*Would you prefer something indoor or outdoor? (See the List if Indoor Hobbies and Outdoor Hobbies below.)
*Can you afford to invest some money towards a hobby? Or do you need a cheap one? (See List of Inexpensive Hobbies below.)
*Do you have kids and would like to choose a hobby that is family-oriented? (See List of Family Fun Hobbies.)
Do you like the idea of having something “to show” for? (See List of Productive Hobbies.)
Have you always liked arts and crafts? (See The List of Crafting Hobbies.)
*Would you like a hobby that encourages social interaction? (See List of Social Hobbies.)
*Is there a hobby you have heard a lot about lately that seems fun and interesting to you? (See the List of Hobbies That are Trending Right Now.)

A hobby can simply be something fun that you enjoy doing. I think that these days a lot of people feel like they have to try to make money with a hobby. That is definitely an option, but don’t feel pressured to turn your hobby into a business. Hobbies have many benefits (find professional link) and can improve both your physical and psychological health. I think of my hobbies as part of my self care plan and I think spending time doing something that brings you joy is super valuable in this fast-paced style of life most of us live in. We often buy into the belief that we should be “productive” 100% of the time and that hobbies are selfish and a waste of time. Don’t believe that crap! Use this incredible list of hobby ideas that I have created and start investing in your happiness and well-being right now.
